William Irving Rider

FERRISBURGH — William Irving Rider, 81, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at his home in Ferrisburgh. He was born Jan. 27, 1927, in Ferrisburgh, the son of John Philip and Ellen Porter Rider.

He is survived by his sister, Marjorie Bushey of Middlebury; several nieces and nephews; and dear friends.

He was predeceased by six sisters and a brother.

There will be no public calling hours.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Gage Cemetery in Ferrisburgh.

Claire Theresa Mullaney

BRANDON — Claire Theresa Mullaney, 80, died Sept. 22, 2008, at her home in Brandon. She was born in Arlington, Mass., on Sept. 1, 1928, the daughter of Emile and Alice (Comeau) Saulnier.

She graduated from Arlington (Mass.) High School, class of 1946. She furthered her education in dress design in the Boston area. She later worked in a bridal shop in Burlington, Mass., for several years. She relocated to Leicester Junction in 1977 moving from Burlington, Mass. She afterwards moved to Brandon.

She volunteered at the Brandon Senior Citizens, cooking and serving meals. She also worked at Camp Thorpe in Goshen, doing laundry for the disabled children. According to family, she enjoyed traveling, sewing, and crafts and was a wonderful baker. She was proud of her gardening skills and lugged her own firewood.

She is survived by two daughters, Charlene Ingram of Madison, N.H., and Cheryl Gallagher of Stoneham, Mass.; three sons, Robert Dejoie of the Marshall Islands, Marty Dejoie of Florida, and Jody Mullaney of Goffstown, N.H.; a sister, May Balog of Cape Cod; her companion, Kenneth LaPorte of Leicester; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, two nephews and several cousins.
