Vermont State Police Log: Unbelted driver is hospitalized after crash

ADDISON COUNTY — A bad crash in Addison early Sunday morning sent three people to the hospital — one with serious injuries.

On Sunday, March 27, at approximately 2:41 a.m. Vermont 911 received a report of a motor vehicle crash with injuries at the Jersey Street South and Route 17 intersection in Addison.

Middlebury Police Log: Police: Man pointed gun at another person

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Daryn T. Barsalou, 20, of Bristol for reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and violating the term of his release, after he allegedly pointed a gun at another person at the McDonald’s restaurant off Court Street Extension on Sunday, March 27, at shortly after 9 p.m.

Vergennes Police Log: Police return wallets, assist truck enforcement

VERGENNES — Among other activity between March 21 and 27, Vergennes police handled two lost wallets, participated in a special truck enforcement detail with state officials, and dealt with two alleged assaults in which they ended up not filing charges.

In that week, Vergennes police:

• On March 21 went to help Vermont State Police and Addison County Sheriff’s Department deputies with a domestic dispute in a car on Plank Road; police said it turned out to be an argument and not an assault.

Bristol Police Log: Bristol police aid troopers in New Haven incident

BRISTOL — On Feb. 18 a Bristol police officer was dispatched to South Street in New Haven, where the officer and two Vermont State Police troopers found an agitated man, according to Bristol Police Chief Kevin Gibbs’ recently released log of February activity.

One of the great wildlife migrations is happening right now in Vermont, and it is taking place right at our feet.

You may have already heard the spring peepers or wood frogs calling in your backyard. Or perhaps you’ve noticed salamanders crawling over rocks in a nearby stream. Amphibians are on the move, but their spring breeding migration can too often become deadly.

Dancers injured on floor surface at new recreation center

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury selectboard has agreed to consider some new flooring for the multi-purpose room of the town’s new recreation facility, in light of news that the current surface has allegedly led to some injuries suffered by participants in the recreation department’s dance program.

Aldermen seek candidates for VUHS board

VERGENNES — At their March 22 meeting, Vergennes City Council members invited those interested in the city’s vacant seat on the Vergennes Union High School board to submit a letter of interest to City Hall by April 8 and to attend the council’s April 12 meeting.

No one filed a petition to be on the Town Meeting Day ballot for a seat that was vacated by Neil Kamman, who chose not to run again after multiple terms of service.
