MIDDLEBURY — Porter Hospital officials are asking state approval for a fiscal year 2013 budget of around $69 million, including a 4.2-percent increase in net revenues and a boost of 5 percent in the rates charged for medical procedures.
MIDDLEBURY — Cassandra Gekas has spent the past few years lobbying state politicians for health care reform as a representative of Vermont Public Interest Research Group (VPIRG).
Now the Montpelier Democrat is seeking to become one of those being lobbied in the Vermont Statehouse — as lieutenant governor. Gekas, 30, is challenging incumbent Republican Lt. Gov. Phil Scott this November.
MIDDLEBURY –– From Bristol to Burlington, Greensboro to Granville, Eric Wegar has seen it all.
Wegar, 62, recently finished compiling a set of collages documenting his trips to all 251 towns, cities, gores and grants in the state of Vermont.
A Pittsford resident and retired postal worker, Wegar found inspiration from an older project. He tried to make a large photographic map of the state, but could not find a scale that would fit. During a May 9, 2009, drive to Warren, Wegar noticed a welcome sign for the town of Granville that sparked a new idea.
MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury selectboard on Sept. 18 will hold its first of two public hearings on a proposed updated town plan that now bears many of the suggested changes offered by citizens at two planning commission hearings held this past spring.
