SHOREHAM — Vermont’s Congressional delegation announced on Tuesday that it had secured $1.3 million in federal funds to build a community health center in Shoreham that will offer medical and dental services to area residents regardless of their ability to pay.
BRANDON — The Hannaford supermarket chain has pulled out of the beleaguered Brandon Plaza project, citing economic changes and the lengthy permitting process.
Developer Bill McCabe had been counting on the store to anchor his long-delayed shopping center project at the intersection of Route 7 and Nickerson Road. From its corporate headquarters in Scarborough, Maine, Hannaford officials cited a change in the economic climate since the project entered the local permitting process in 2009.
RUTLAND — The former owner and publisher of theBrandon Reporter and Vermont Ski News and founder of the Vermont Ski Museum has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for governor.
Roy Newton, who publishes theLakeside News and the Rutland Sun, made the announcement on the campus of Castleton State College on April 25.
