Homeward Bound offers a range of services for animals

ADDISON COUNTY — Of course the Homeward Bound Animal Welfare Center provides the adoption and emergency shelter services that many would expect from a local animal shelter.

But the Middlebury organization also provide many other services that sometimes go unnoticed. These social service programs contribute to the safety and wellbeing of the animals in our areas and work to make our community shelter an organization we can all be proud of.

Here are a few of these special programs that our shelter provides for Addison County animal families.

Lavalley building closer to demolition, removal

CORNWALL — Workers on Thursday began removing asbestos from the former Lavalley Store building in Cornwall village, a task that is expected to culminate in the demolition and removal of the structure before the end of the year.

Tiger football dominates CVU, 35-7

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School football team put a rain-soaked exclamation point on its regular season on Friday, when the Tigers dominated visiting Champlain Valley, 35-7, to enter the Division I playoffs with a 5-3 record and — according to several sources — the No. 5 seed.

The Tigers are expected to play at No. 4 Rutland (5-3) on Friday, with the winner of that game facing either undefeated No. 1 Hartford or No. 8 South Burlington (4-4) the following weekend.
