MIDDLEBURY — Rep. Michael Fisher, D-Lincoln, has promised to file legislation calling for a temporary state income tax increase in order to preserve some of the programs that serve the Vermont’s most needy citizens.

MIDDLEBURY — Gathering in Gov. Jim Douglas’ figurative back yard on Monday, several dozen residents from around Addison Country congregated at Court Square across from the Middlebury Inn to protest the Middlebury Republican’s proposed budget cuts to human service agencies, which protestors argued unfairly hurt low-income Vermonters.

VERGENNES — In January directors of the four Addison Northwest Supervisory Union schools approved spending proposals for the 2009-2010 school year that, if approved by voters, would boost budgets by between 1.7 and 4.9 percent.

MIDDLEBURY — Fifteen years ago, Middlebury College senior Ben Rudin’s family moved from New York City to suburban Scarsdale, N.Y. Rudin was the new kid at Quaker Ridge Elementary School.
Fortunately, it didn’t take too long for him to make new best friends with fellow second-grader Kyle Dudley and his twin brother, Kevin.
