Or rather, lack of snow.</span></p> <p> &ldquo;The season is getting shortened from both ends,&rdquo; he said glumly last week.</p> <p> At the same time, he believes, changes in the sport have reduced the overall number of recreational cross-country skiers and vacation patterns are shifting.
