Letter to the editor: Charboneau offers 'steadfast committment' to issues

Posted on November 3, 2016 |
By Frank Nicosia

It is with enthusiasm that I endorse Jill Charbonneau for the Vermont House in Addison 1. I have known Jill for many years, and have always appreciated her steadfast commitment to the most important issues that we face. She has been a consistent advocate for single payer health care for many years, and she supports the current efforts to begin with universal publicly-funded primary care for all Vermonters.

Letter to the editor: Democrats have failed to fix health care, finances

Posted on November 3, 2016 |
By Bill Scott

There’s an elephant in the room! Let’s talk about it…the Democrats have had their opportunity to represent the best interests of Addison County for the last six years. During that time of one-party domination, state spending has grown by $779 million, property taxes have increased by $137.4 million, we have a catastrophically failed health care system, and the 2017 budget calls for $48 million dollars in new taxes and fees.

Letter to the editor: Trump’s flaws disqualfy him; Clinton’s do not compare

Posted on November 3, 2016 |
By Rev. George Klohck

Americans know a lot about both Trump and Clinton. It shouldn’t be hard to make a good choice. This is what we know about Donald Trump. He was born into wealth and privilege that gave him an edge on nearly everyone else who might pursue power and fame and fortune. He used his position of privilege to bully, lie, cheat, steal, and abuse and demean others.

I ask you to vote for Sue Minter for governor of Vermont. Sue’s pragmatic, smart and compassionate approach to leadership will greatly benefit our state. Letter to the editor: Lincoln principal: Governance structure to be better

Posted on November 3, 2016 |
By Tory Riley

At first, I did not support Act 46. I’ve changed my mind. I would have preferred that the Vermont Legislature pass no legislation regarding education for three years and spend the time working on a simpler, more directive piece of legislation to support schools in addressing issues of equity and efficiency.

Letter to the editor: Charbonneau would work for Vermont’s wage-earners

Posted on November 3, 2016 |
By Dave Stoll

It’s not easy to elect a legislature that truly reflects the citizenry of Vermont because most of us do not have the time and resources to serve. Most Vermonters who reach the legislature are lawyers, teachers, brokers, business owners and nonprofit executives. What’s rare are union leaders and other workers.
