MICHAEL G. BOLDUC

MIDDLEBURY — Michael G. Bolduc, 61, Vermont, died peacefully at his home after a long battle with small cell lung cancer on April 17, 2015. This is my self-written obituary.

JEAN BRIGGS

VERGENNES — A memorial service for Jean Briggs of Vergennes, who died Feb. 3, 2015, will be held Saturday, May 2, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Prospect Cemetery on Route 22A in Vergennes.

GREG CLARK

BRANDON — Greg Rollin Clark, 54, of Brandon, died Monday, April 20, 2015.

Born in Proctor, he was a son of Patricia Shortsleeves and the late Herbert E Clark Jr. He grew up and attended schools in the Brandon area. He married Cim M. (Rouse) Clark in Brandon on Sept. 28, 1991.

He worked with his late brother, Scott, and late father, Herbert, for many years in their woodcutting and sawyer business. They say he also enjoyed farming and selling Christmas trees. He loved the outdoors, deep-sea fishing, NASCAR racing and his family very much.

ARTHUR CLIFFORD

STARKSBORO — Arthur E. Clifford, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, April 17, 2015, at his home in Starksboro, where he lived his entire life. He was surrounded by his family and friends.

RUTH MORSE HARRIS

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Ruth Morse Harris, 80, of Fredericksburg died on Monday, April 13, 2015, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born Feb. 18, 1935, in Whallonsburg, N.Y., to Herman and Alice Morse.

She graduated from Cornell University and retired from New York state as an elementary school teacher.

She and her husband, Blakely, resided in Middlebury, Vt., for many years and ran the Harris Farm near Middlebury College. She was an active member of the Congregational Church of Middlebury.

ROBERT KINGSLEY

MIDDLEBURY — Robert C. Kingsley died April 20, 2015, at his home in Middlebury. He was born in Kenosha, Wis., July 18, 1922, the son of Ralph S. and Eva Wells Kingsley. He attended public school in Kenosha.

He entered Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill, in September 1940, and received his degree in December 1943, wearing the uniform of a midshipman in the U.S. Navy. He trained in the Navy as a Russian linguist.

NATALIE SEKELLA

FLORENCE — Natalie M. Sekella, 75, died Sunday evening, April 19, 2015, at her home in Florence.

Born March 11, 1940, in Elmira, N.Y., she was the daughter of Michael and Mildred Sekella.

Those who knew her said she enjoyed picnics, parades and collecting pocketbooks. She lived in Middlebury for many years and received a lot of help from the Counseling Service of Addison County.

JOHN SOUTTER

MIDDLEBURY — John Downey Soutter, 79, died peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2015, at The University of Vermont Medical Center following a short hospitalization. Born in New York City in 1935, the son of James Taylor Soutter and Sarah Louise Downey, he grew up in Rye, N.Y. He graduated from St. Paul’s School (’53) and Princeton (’57).

KELLY BOE

MIDDLEBURY — Kelly W. Boe, 55, died Tuesday evening, April 14, 2015, as the result of injuries sustained in an accident.

Kelly was born Oct. 11, 1959, in Detroit, MI, the son of the late Daryl and Joyce (Wells) Boe. He obtained a bachelor of science degree at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Kelly was an engineer, employed by Middlebury College managing the Biomass Plant.

MARY CONLIN

 

BRANDON — Mary Conlin died after a brief illness on Monday, April 13, at her home in Brandon.

She was the wife of Arthur Conlin. They married 47 years ago on Aug. 10, 1968, in Essex Junction.

Her family says she was best known for running/managing the Charlestown Sweater Store in Middlebury for many years. She also worked catering for Toni Neri for many years, and owned and operated the Food Bus at the Charlotte Flea Market.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
