ERNEST S. CLIFFORD

CROWN POINT, N.Y. — Ernest S. Clifford, 91, died on Oct. 5, 2014. He was born in North Pomfret on Feb. 18, 1923, the son of Elton W. and Constance M. (Strong) Clifford.

He graduated from Woodstock High School in 1941, then worked as a machinist in a defense plant in Springfield, Mass. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 and served as a radio operator in the 15th Air Force in North Africa and Italy until the war’s end in 1945.

WILLIAM DAVIDSON

NEW HAVEN — William C. Davidson, 72, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, at his home in New Haven from complications of Parkinson’s disease and ALS.

FLORIAN “TINY” FOLGER SR.

WALTHAM — Florian “Tiny” F. Folger Sr., 82, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington after a short illness.

He was born Jan. 24, 1932, in Excelsior, Pa., son of Frank and Anna Domalakas Folger.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict on board the USS Libra and with U.S. Navy Band in Washington, D.C. As a veteran, he was a member of the American Legion for over 55 years including Post 14 (Vergennes).

RAYMOND “BUD” KELTON JR.

MIDDLEBURY — Raymond “Bud” Kelton Jr., age 81, died peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at Helen Porter Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury surrounded by his wife and children.

Bud was born on the family farm in New Haven on March 26, 1933. He was the son of Raymond and Grace (Newton) Kelton Sr. He grew up in Middlebury and received his early education at St. Mary’s School. He graduated from Middlebury High School, class of 1951. Bud spent the next year driving West exploring the county.

SUSAN ROSSIER

VERGENNES — Susan Faith Rossier, 68, died unexpectedly Sept. 21, 2014, at her home in Vergennes.Born on Nov. 24, 1945, she was the daughter of Douglas Rossier and the late Mary Devine Rossier.

PAUL SAENGER

SHOREHAM — Paul Saenger, 59, died Sunday evening, Oct. 5, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born June 30, 1955, in Belleville, Ill., Paul grew up in Millstadt, Ill., and maintained his childhood friendships throughout his life. He was the son of the late Fredrick O. and Irma (Wittmer) Saenger.

Paul earned his BA and MS from the University of Illinois and PhD from Purdue University where he again made friendships that lasted until the end. He came to Vermont in 1982 where he had a teaching, research, and extension position at UVM.

VIRGINIA BROWN

MIDDLEBURY — Virginia Holmes Brown, 91, died peacefully at her home in Middlebury on Sept. 23, 2014. Born in Troy, N.Y., on Dec. 3, 1922, “Ginna” was the daughter of Northrup R. Holmes and Bertha May Holmes. She grew up in Troy and attended Emma Willard School for 12 years.

CHRISTINE CHESLEY

BRISTOL — Christine Delta Banks Chesley, 92, was born in Comfort, W.V., Feb. 27, 1922. She resided in many areas of our country as the wife of a United States Coast Guard serviceman. She herself served as a dedicated nurse during World War II where she cared for her future husband, Myron Edward Chesley.

PATRICIA DANAHY

PLAISTOW, N.H. — Patricia M. Danahy, 76, of Plaistow, N.H., died Sept. 27, 2014, surrounded by family. She was born in Lawrence, Mass., the daughter of the late Joseph G. and Bernice A. (Zolubos) Jaskal.

Patricia was married on Jan. 31, 1958, to John P. Danahy, who predeceased her in 2006. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who lived for many years in Lincoln and Bristol, Vt., and most recently in Plaistow, N.H.

CAROLYN HAMEL

FERRISBURGH — A memorial service for Carolyn Chamberlain Hamel of Massachusetts, a former resident of Ferrisburgh who died May 21, 2014, will be held Sunday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m. at the home of Scott and Lisa Brace on Sand Road in Ferrisburgh.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
