VERGENNES — Vergennes police dealt with a variety of incidents between June 16 and 22, including the arrest of a juvenile for a mountain bike theft, an alleged sex assault, several cases at Hillside Acres apartments, and a fight and alcohol abuse at Northlands Job Corps.

In that seven-day period, city police:

•  On June 16 investigated an allegation of a sex assault at a Hillside Acres apartment. The case is being referred to the special county investigation unit.

•  On June 16 looked for someone said to be knocking on Hillside Acres apartment doors in the middle of the night, but found no one.

•  On June 16 looked unsuccessfully for a car on behalf of Colchester police.

•  On June 16 handled a minor two-car accident on Green Street.

•  On June 16 cited two female Northlands Job Corps students for disorderly conduct after an alleged fight. One was a juvenile, and the other was Stephanie Henry, 18, of Bethel, Conn.

•  On June 17 went to a Main Street apartment to check the welfare of a resident, who was not there.

•  On June 17 went to a Booska Court residence to check the welfare of a resident, who was found to be fine.

•  On June 17 looked into a report of vandalism to the city skate park.

•  On June 17 were told a juvenile was missing from a Second Street home, but soon learned he was in Bristol and was returning home.

•  On June 19 called the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad to help a disoriented and ailing man on Route 7 in New Haven after responding there on behalf of Vermont State Police.

•  On June 20 after an investigation arrested a 16-year-old juvenile for stealing a mini-bike from a West Main Street residence. The juvenile, who police said was under Department of Children and Families (DCF) custody but living at home, was cited for petit larceny and lodged at the Woodside Juvenile Detention Center.

•  On June 20 cited a truck driver for obstructing traffic and his company for exceeding weight limits, an action taken on South Water Street after an initial complaint on Green Street.

•  On June 20 sent the department Drug Recognition Expert to the VSP barracks in New Haven to assist with a case.

•  On June 20 went to a Hillside Acres apartment on behalf of the DCF to check the welfare of a child, who was determined to be OK.

•  On June 20 handled a noise complaint at a Main Street apartment building.

•  On June 20 and 21 issued court diversion paperwork to Northlands Job Corps students for underage drinking, to one female and one male student.

•  On June 21 helped VSP at a traffic stop on Route 22A in Ferrisburgh.

•  On June 21 responded to report of two women arguing at a Hillside Acres apartment and found things calm on arrival.

•  On June 21 helped VARS at a Monkton Road medical call.

•  On June 21 took a report that a black Trek mountain bike had been stolen from a School Street home.

•  On June 21 responded to a report from the Otter Creek falls area that a boat carrying youths had capsized, and found all were safely ashore.

•  On June 21 went to West Main Street to check out a report of kids throwing firecrackers onto the road, but they were gone.

•  On June 22 took a belligerent and drunken Northlands student of legal drinking age to the Act 1 detoxification center in Burlington.
