UVM clinics to offer budget help to farmers

MIDDLEBURY — University of Vermont Extension farm business educators will be available to meet individually with Vermont farmers at several locations in late February and March to provide assistance with farm budgets, update balance sheets or address other financial matters.

Sessions are 60 to 90 minutes and will be tailored to the financial planning needs of the individual farm. The cost is $25. Appointments may be scheduled at www.regonline.com/2016budgetclinics.

Aurora School to fete 20 years

MIDDLEBURY — Two decades ago, Susan Vigne and Molly Reed founded Aurora School in Middlebury. On Sunday afternoon, March 6, Aurora will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a benefit gala at Middlebury’s Town Hall Theater. The Grift and Zephyr, as well as other local musicians will play. There will be a delicious food and drink, as well as a silent auction and raffle of items and services from local businesses and community members. This family-friendly event is open to the public.

St. Stephens offering grants to help people in Addison County

MIDDLEBURY — St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Middlebury is offering outreach grants from funds raised during its annual Peasant Market.

The church is inviting applications for grants to fund programs or projects that help people in Addison County. These grants are generally in the range of $200 to $2,000.

Priority will be given to proposals to help people meet their basic needs for food, clothing, housing, heat and healthcare; or to serve at-risk youth and their families.

Middlebury Police Log for Feb. 18: Road rage incident under investigation

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police investigated a suspected road rage incident on Route 7 south on Feb. 12. The victim alleged that a vehicle cut him off, according to police. The victim confronted the driver, who allegedly slammed his car door against the victim’s hand, causing injury, police said. The case is still under investigation, according to authorities.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

• Ticketed a juvenile for being a minor in possession of tobacco on Middlebury Union High School property on Feb. 8.

Local builder stars in 'This Old House'

MIDDLEBURY — The long running, popular PBS television show “This Old House” will soon showcase the wares of a Middlebury-based business that specializes in construction of new old houses — Connor Homes.

Representatives of the show confirmed on Tuesday that Connor Homes will provide a pre-engineered, 3,000-square-foot home that will be assembled at an Essex, Mass., site for a young family during the course of 10 upcoming episodes of “This Old House” for a project titled, “North Shore Farmhouse.”
