Vergennes Police Log: Running stop signs nets two drunk driving citations

VERGENNES — Vergennes police cited two drivers into court for drunk-driving offenses this past weekend, both after stopping them for allegedly failing to obey the stop sign at the intersection of New Haven Road and Route 7.

On Saturday, Feb. 10, city police cited George W. Hallock, 34, of Waltham for driving under the influence of alcohol after stopping his vehicle on Route 7. Police allege his blood-alcohol content tested at 0.112; the legal limit for driving is 0.08.

Vermont State Police Log: Four cited in Orwell after heroin investigation

ADDISON COUNTY — Four people are facing heroin charges as the result of a Vermont State Police investigation into drug activity at an Orwell home last Saturday.

At around 1 p.m. on Feb. 3 troopers executed a search warrant at a Roberts Avenue home in Orwell. Police said they found four individuals — Boris J. Serkalow, 29, of West Rutland; Brian Burdge, 43, of Orwell; Jamie Trinci, 37, of Orwell; and Benjamin Krans, 37, of Sudbury — each had a misdemeanor amount of heroin in their possession. They were each cited for possession of the drug.

Bristol Police Log: Authorities seek help with hit-and-run

BRISTOL — At a little after 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 23, a citizen told a Bristol police officer about a hit-and-run crash that had occurred on Airport Drive at the intersection of West Street.

The vehicle that left the scene was described as a dark-colored Toyota or Honda passenger car; it was last seen traveling eastbound on West Street.

Middlebury Police Log: Police find no gun in family dispute

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the Court Street area on Feb. 5 that police initially feared might involve a handgun.

Police determined no handgun was involved in the incident, which turned out to be a disagreement between a man and his mother. Police said the man was taken to Porter Hospital for a mental health evaluation.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Helped a person on South Street who was experiencing some mental health problems on Jan. 29.

Vergennes Police Log: City police stop rolling car

VERGENNES — Vergennes police handled a variety of incidents between Jan. 22 and Feb. 4, including dealing with child custody disputes, helping motorist who had locked themselves out of vehicles, issuing citations following an alleged fight, investigating several car break-ins, stopping a rolling car from doing damage, and continuing to issue tickets to vehicle owners who neglect to obey the city’s wintertime ban on overnight street parking.

Vermont State Police Log: Two teens trapped in car crash

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police and other first responders helped rescue two teenagers who were trapped in their car after it went off the road and rolled onto a frozen stream in Ferrisburgh this past Friday night.

Bristol Police Log: Police cite Winooski man for DUI No. 2

BRISTOL — Bristol police on Jan. 20 cited a Winooski man for driving under the influence of alcohol, second offense, following a traffic stop for defective equipment on Plank Road.

Police allege Christopher R. Grassley, 32, was found to have a blood-alcohol content of 0.105; the legal limit for driving is 0.08.

Middlebury Police Log: Child abuse under investigation

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police investigated child abuse allegations involving a one-year-old child in the Court Street area on Jan. 25.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Helped the Addison County Sheriff’s Department with a prisoner at Porter Hospital on Jan. 22.

•  Responded to a report of a vehicle that had veered off Three Mile Bridge Road on Jan. 22.

Vermont State Police Log: Injured snowmobile driver cited for DUI

ADDISON COUNTY — At just after 11:30 p.m. this past Friday, Jan. 19, Vermont State Police responded to a reported snowmobile accident on a VAST trail off Route 7 in Leicester. The driver of the snowmobile, identified as 26-year-old Jason Rowe of Brandon, was transported to Porter Hospital in Middlebury to receive treatment for a shoulder injury and minor cuts.

Middlebury Police Log: Woman revived after drug overdose

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury Police helped revive a woman who had overdosed on drugs in the lobby of a Court Street building on Jan. 17.

Police said Middlebury Regional EMS officials found the woman to be unresponsive. Fortunately, an officer was equipped with Narcan, medication that stimulates bodily functions in a person who has stopped breathing due to drug overdose. Police administered it to the woman, who regained consciousness, according to authorities.

Ambulance staff then took the woman to Porter Hospital, police said.
