BRISTOL — An atmosphere of pride and excitement permeated the first organizational meeting of the newly formed Addison Northeast School District, held at Mount Abraham Union High School last Thursday. The district is the result of a vote last November by the five towns of the Addison Northeast Supervisory Union to unify budgeting and governance in accordance with Act 46.

Music has been used as a way to communicate and connect for a long time ? a way to come and go freely across cultures, borders and languages. The best part is that you don’t have to have a fancy degree or know all your scales; all you need to make music is the passion (a sense of rhythm helps, too).

n BristolFirehouse LEAD 8182.jpg

BRISTOL — The old North Street firehouse in Bristol has been standing empty since last July, when the Bristol Fire Department moved into its station on West Street.

Now three parties are vying to bring new life to the century-old building as a machinery museum, a bed and breakfast or a private residence.

The potential purchasers of the historic village property on Monday presented their ideas to the Bristol selectboard, which quizzed each on its plans. Selectboard members postponed the final selection until their next meeting, Feb. 27.

VERGENNES — Ross Sheehan is back in town, again. He and his wife, Cat Cutillo, bopped from New York City (where they met), to Reno, Nev., to San Francisco, to Vergennes, back to San Francisco, and are now back in Vergennes. Maybe this time for good?

The first time they moved to Vergennes in 2011, the couple fulfilled a longtime dream and opened Outerlands Gallery — showing their own work as well as others — at 37 Green St. But “dream jobs” pulled them back to the Bay Area in 2014.

BRISTOL — Come Town Meeting Day on March 7, Bristol voters will be looking at a slate of candidates largely unopposed and largely made up of incumbents.

Aside from the Perlee-Laliberte race, there are no other contests on the Bristol ballot.
