I am writing this letter to recommend the election of Alyson Eastman of Orwell running to represent Vermonters. Alyson has been involved in town issues for many years. She served on the Orwell School board. She understands the methods and means to develop a small business, having operated a bookkeeping payroll business, even extending to immigration services, and negotiating contracts.
Rep. Diane Lanpher deserves to be reelected to represent us in Montpelier. She has proven that not only does she listen to our concerns in our community, she acts on them.
CASTLETON — For most of Monday’s Division II field hockey semifinal, No. 2 Otter Valley Union High School looked like the better team even without leading scorer Allison Lowell, who took ill just as the Otters were boarding their bus to leave for Castleton State College.
THETFORD — The Middlebury Union High School boys’ cross-country team finished fifth in Division II to highlight the efforts of runners from MUHS, Mount Abraham, Vergennes and Otter Valley at Saturday’s Vermont championship meet at Thetford Academy.
VERMONT — The Vermont Sports Media Association chose Middlebury Union High School football player Austin Robinson and Wallingford swimmer Bethany Bosch as its September Athletes of the Month.
In statewide balloting of VSMA members, Robinson was elected the Male Athlete of the Month, and Bosch was voted the Female Athlete of the Month. Each was first nominated by a VSMA member for his or her outstanding efforts during the month of September.
“You can always tell tourists apart from Alaskans,” Brad said. Brad is my nephew, and a Middlebury College alumnus. Just about the time he started as a freshman at Middlebury, his parents moved to Anchorage. When he graduated four and a half years ago, he stuck around New England for a while looking for work, but eventually joined his parents back in Anchorage.
ADDISON COUNTY — All three area high school football teams will play in semifinal games this weekend. Middlebury (9-0), the top seed in Division I, and Otter Valley (7-1), the No. 1 seed in Division III, will host contests; Mount Abraham (5-4), No. 6 in Division III, will hit the road.
The D-I and D-III finals will be held at Rutland High School on Saturday, Nov. 8, at times to be announced early next week.
