I am trying to understand the cost of Vermont’s healthcare system, and how that cost could be met from taxes on working people, should Vermont “go it alone” with the so-called “single payer system.”
My 17-year-old son Daniel was attacked brutally by Chad Levasseur just over a year ago in an incident in Vergennes. My son was left laying in the road unconscious from the beating. He needed eight staples in his head. Police reported that Levasseur was so threatening that no one dared intervene as he kept kicking my son in the back of the head.
Nearly every week, we get together with two friends for an afternoon of bridge. Recently, one of our friends suffered a “medical event.” Fortunately, another guest is a retired emergency room nurse. She immediately took charge and did all the right things to help him, which also saved us from panicking and doing something that could have been counter to what he needed.
I’m encouraged to see the green “Calvin McEathron for Vermont House” signs sprouting up around Middlebury. You can be sure that each one of those signs represents an in-person visit from Calvin where the resident had the pleasure of discussing Vermont’s future with this impressive young man.
I would like to use this letter to briefly summarize why I will be voting for Calvin McEathron and not for his opponent Amy Sheldon.
I write in support of the reelection of Betty Nuovo to the Vermont House. She has faithfully represented the town of Middlebury and all who live here for 28 years. She is experienced, and experience always counts.
I am happy to write to you about Susan Smiley. Susan is a candidate for state representative for New Haven, Bridport and Weybridge.
I met Susan when we both had kids in school and I liked her right away. She was smart, funny, honest, friendly and generous and she adored her family. She grew organic vegetables, milk, beef, flowers and homemade yogurt on their River Road farm that she sold to markets and delivered to your door.
I am pleased to recommend my East Middlebury neighbor, Amy Sheldon, to represent Middlebury in the Vermont House.
