ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police are investigating two separate incidents involving objects being thrown through windows in Monkton. Police did not indicate they were related.

First, on Saturday, June 28, at 8:10 a.m., police responded to an incident of vandalism that took place the previous night on Mountain Road. Unknown individual(s) shattered the rear window of a 2008 Ford F-150 Quad Cab by throwing a bottle of salsa at it. Salsa was deposited throughout the entire cab of the truck. The estimated cost of the damage is approximately $750.

On the same day, troopers said they are investigating two suspicious incidents and a case of vandalism that have occurred at a different Monkton Road residence since early June. On June 28, state police received a report that someone threw a 6-inch-by-4-inch rock through the basement window of the victim’s home. The approximate value of the damage is $500. Troopers did not detail the other suspicious incidents, but said they did not involve property damage; the homeowners have installed game cameras on the property and the investigation is continuing.

Anyone with information relevant to either of these incidents is asked to contact state police at 1-802-388-4919. Information can also be submitted anonymously online at www.vtips.info or by texting “CRIMES” (274637) to Keyword: VTIPS.

In other recent activity, state police:

•  On June 20 at 8:07 a.m. responded to a report of a missing person in Granville, where a 15-year-old female who was attending a camping program for troubled youths called True North had wandered off during the night. Troopers, a K-9, and forest rangers responded. A ranger found her sitting on King’s Bridge behind the Bowl Mill. She was returned to the camping program.

•  On June 23 at 1:35 p.m. responded to a report of a burglary at an Orwell home. Approximately $6,300 in rolled change was reported missing from an unsecured building used as a garage and office. No suspects were identified. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police.

•  On June 25 at 3:38 p.m. responded to a report of an assault at a Panton Road residence in Panton. Further investigation led police to cite Gerard Vorsteveld, 40, of Panton for simple assault. Vorsteveld is due to answer the charge in Addison Superior Court, Criminal Division, on Aug. 4.

•  On June 26 at 7:55 p.m. cited Adam J. Nichols, 20, of Milton for allegedly driving 79 mph in a 40 mph zone in Ferrisburgh on Route 7 near Little Chicago Road. The trooper noted that there are several businesses and an intersection. He cited Nichols for speeding.

•  On June 27 at 12:41 a.m. received a report that a driver had struck a deer while traveling northbound on Route 7 in Waltham. The driver, identified as Erin Antonioli, 41, of Fairfax, was unharmed, although her black Subaru Outback sustained moderate damage. No tickets or warnings were issued.

•  On June 29 cited Heidi J. Booska, 35, of Georgia for driving with a criminally suspended license on Route 7 in Ferrisburgh following a traffic stop for an unspecified driving infraction.

Vermont State Police will set up sobriety checkpoints in the Addison County area over the Fourth of July holiday in the interest of detecting and arresting persons under the influence of alcohol or any drug that has impaired their ability to operate a motor vehicle.
