MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police responded to a car-pedestrian accident in Court Square on Dec. 18.

As previously reported in the Addison Independent, Town Hall Theater Executive Director Doug Anderson had been walking his dog, Willie, when Anderson was struck by a car.

Anderson sustained minor injuries, but Willie bolted from the scene. The Middlebury community rallied on behalf of the Andersons in the search for Willie, a golden retriever. The elusive dog was spotted a few times during the ensuing days, but avoided capture — until Saturday, Dec. 23, when some folks saw the pup on South Street and alerted Anderson.

A complete report of Willie’s saga can be found in the A section of this edition of the Independent and at addisonindependent.com.
