Verg drug store robberies 1.jpg

VERGENNES — Vergennes police are seeking help from the public in identifying four suspects captured on video who were allegedly involved in two different thefts from Kinney Drug Store that trace back to January. In both cases personal and skin care items were stolen.

In one case Kinney employees traced back to Jan. 20 after inventory and video review, a man and a woman allegedly stole items valued at $118. The other case dates to Jan. 28, and a different man and woman allegedly took goods valued at about $165.

Their pictures are shown with this story. Anyone with information about the four suspects is asked to call Vergennes police at 877-2201.

In other action between Jan. 30 and Feb. 5, Vergennes police:

•  On Jan. 30 helped the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad at Northlands Job Corps, where a student had hurt his head after reportedly falling out of bed.

•  On Jan. 31 heard from a First Street woman that her daughter was harassing her via text messages, and also stood by while the daughter retrieved belongings from the home.

•  On Jan. 31 found a suspect after being told witnesses had seen a car strike a car parked on South Maple Street, damaging its left rear taillight. One witness picked up pieces of a damaged passenger-side mirror from the car that drove off, and police matched them to a car they found while checking the welfare of a woman at a Thomas Circle home on behalf of the Department for Children and Families. That car also matched the description of the one witnesses saw. Police said they expect to charge the woman for leaving the scene of an accident.

•  On Feb. 1 after receiving a report of erratic driving on Route 7 stopped a car driven by Kathryn J. Samuel, 28, of Middlebury at the junction of Routes 7 and 22A. Police then cited Samuel for driving under the influence of alcohol, second offense, alleging her evidential test for blood-alcohol content read 0.167, and driving with a suspended license, criminal offense; the legal blood-alcohol content limit for driving is 0.08. They also ticketed her for drinking alcohol while driving and for driving with an open container of alcohol.

•  On Feb. 1 mailed to its issuing bank an EBT card that a citizen had found.

•  On Feb. 1 intervened when a man tried to stop a car because he said an unauthorized person was operating it. Police said the driver agreed to return the car, but that charges could be pending because the car had been damaged.

•  On Feb. 1 heard complaints of speeding in the Vergennes Union High School drop-off zone; police patrolled the area during the next day.

•  On Feb. 2 took to the Vergennes Animal Hospital to be euthanized a dog that was suffering after apparently being hit by a car on West Road in Panton.

•  On Feb. 2 cited Patrick Campbell, 22, of Princeton, N.J., for DUI-drugs, refusal, after the department Drug Recognition Expert determined he was operating under the influence of marijuana before a West Main Street traffic stop. Police also ticketed Campbell for speeding and possession of marijuana.

•  On Feb. 3 cited Lindsay Kapuscienski, 26, of Pinton Hills, N.J., into court for excessive speed after a West Main Street traffic stop; police alleged she was driving 69 mph in a 30 mph zone.

•  On Feb. 3, after a West Main Street traffic stop for speeding, cited Robert Scales, Jamel Sears and Kessiah Harvin, all of Albany, N.Y., for heroin possession, heroin trafficking and possession of cocaine, and lodged them at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility. See a full story on this incident in the A section of today’s Independent.

•  On Feb. 3 responded to an untimely death at a Booska Court home along with a medical examiner; police said the person was ill and no foul play was involved.

•  On Feb. 3 helped a motorist get into a locked car on South Water Street.
