Arts Walk Sarah Wesson .jpg
“RIPTON: 49 HOURS Ago” is among the paintings artist Sarah Wesson will be showing at her Merchants Row studio during the final Middlebury Arts Walk of the season this Friday, Oct. 9, from 5-7 p.m. The studio is on the second floor of the historic Battell Building.

MIDDLEBURY — The final Arts Walk of the season is Friday, Oct. 9, from 5-7 p.m., featuring works of paintings, photography and authors all over the village, from Main Street to the Marble Works.

•  American Flatbread, Marble Works, paintings by Micah Lynch. Lynch grew up and lives in Shoreham. He is currently attending Hobart and William Smith Colleges as a studio art and architecture major. His inspiration for this show was a deep interest in native cultures in America and around the world.

•  Clay’s, Main Street, works by Cotey Gallagher. Gallagher is a native Vermont artist who specializes in caricature and children’s book illustrations. Her most recent published children’s book, “Have You Ever?” is available locally and is a collection of fun tongue twisters with goofy accompanying illustrations. She primarily works in acrylics on watercolor paper and pen and ink.

•  Clementine, Main Street, works by watercolor artist and designer Megan Weaver. Clementine’s will feature an array of prints from Weaver’s Vermont nature series and her custom animal portraits.

•  Edgewater Gallery, Mill Street, paintings by nonagenarian artist Catherine “Catchi” Childs. Child’s is Edgewater’s October’s featured artist. The exhibit includes figures and still lifes from a 75-year painting career. Opening reception during the Arts Walk.

•  Edgewater on the Green, Main Street, landscapes and still lifes by TJ Cunningham. New Haven native TJ Cunningham has been painting professionally for the past five years. Adept at painting landscapes en plein air, still lifes in the studio, and portraiture, Cunningham declares that he enjoys painting directly from life far more than painting from photographs.

•  Henry Sheldon Museum, 1 Park St., works by Warren Kimble. The Sheldon’s current exhibit, “Warren Kimble All-American Artist: An Eclectic Retrospective,” highlights the career of the internationally known Brandon artist, who came to prominence for his folk art, but since has concentrated on diverse themes. The exhibit includes selections from Warren and Lorraine Kimble’s personal collection of folk art by other artists.

•  Jackson Gallery at Town Hall Theater, Merchants Row, “Joan Curtis: Watchful Guardians.”Curtis’ works in paint, colored pencil and mixed media make a strong and colorful display. Incorporating human- and animal-like figures she combines abstract and figurative imagery to express her fanciful visions.

•  Otter Creek Kitchenware & Electronics, Merchants Row, food demonstration.Katie Webster, author of the new cookbook “Maple: 100 Sweet and Savory Recipes Featuring Pure Maple Syrup,” will be on hand to demonstrate one of her recipes and serve samples of another.

•  Otter Creek Used Books, Marble Works, works by SCAD graduate Hannah Harding-Minton. Whimsical fairy tale themes painted on rescued book covers.

•  PhotoPlace Gallery, Park Street, “Going Places.” Artists’ reception for an international juried exhibition.

• Sarah Wesson studio, #204 Battell Building, Merchants Row. Featuring Sarah Wesson’s oil and watercolor paintings on the second floor of the Battell Building.

“SUNFLOWERS in the Window” by local artist TJ Cunningham will be part of the exhibit “TJ Cunningham: Landscapes & Still Lifes,” at Edgewater Gallery on the Green. An artist’s reception is on Friday, Oct. 9, from 5-7 p.m., during the final Middlebury Arts Walk of the season.
