MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police on June 4 responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Magic Wok Restaurant on Route 7 South.

Police learned however that it had not been a robbery, but rather a burglary that had occurred sometime the previous night. Police reported an “undetermined amount of cash” had been taken from the cash register.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

• Investigated an alleged domestic dispute at a Cedar Court home on June 1. Police said the dispute stemmed from a man not wanting a woman to leave the home because she was drunk.

• Were informed of the suspected theft of a bike from the Cross Street area on June 1.

• Assisted the Counseling Service of Addison County with an involuntary committal on June 1. Police said the patient was taken to Porter Hospital.

• Responded to a noise complaint at a Court Street apartment building on June 2.

• Ticketed a juvenile for being a minor in possession of tobacco on Water Street on June 2.

• Received a report about a vehicle leaving the scene of an accident on Washington Street on June 2.

• Responded to a June 2 report of a man allegedly offering alcohol to minors outside of the Hannaford Supermarket the previous day. Police described the suspect as being in his early 60s, stocky build, and around 5 feet, 6 inches tall.

• Investigated the report of a male acting strangely on Court Street Extension on June 3.

• Responded to a report of a man allegedly sending indecent images electronically to a local girl on June 3.

• Were informed of the theft of a handgun and a rifle from a Route 7 home on June 3. Authorities are still researching the make and model of the weapons. The investigation continues.

• Served a no-trespass notice on a local man on June 3.

• Investigated a home burglary on Nashua Lane on June 3. Police said the culprit entered through an unlocked door and damaged several items in the residence. Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call Middlebury police at 388-3191.

• Helped resolve a verbal disagreement between two people on Court Street on June 4.

• Continued an ongoing investigation on June 4 into counterfeit checks recently passed at a Court Street Extension business.

• Cited Brian Larrow, 27, of Ferrisburgh for a criminal count of driving with a suspended license on Court Street Extension on June 5. Police said they stopped Larrow after receiving a report of a vehicle being operated erratically in The Center plaza lot.

• Investigated a report of a man who had been driving erratically on Washington Street Extension and who had allegedly forced another driver off the road on June 5.

• Ticketed a juvenile for being a minor in possession of tobacco off Case Street on June 6.

• Ticketed a woman for driving with a suspended license on Washington Street on June 6. Police also confiscated a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia from the vehicle.

• Assisted Vermont State Police with a traffic stop on Case Street on June 6.

• Assisted Middlebury Regional EMS in responding to a report of a “possibly suicidal” woman at a Lower Foote Street home on June 6. Police said the patient was intoxicated.

• Received a report about a large tree limb that was suspended above the northbound lane of Case Street on June 6. Police said a neighbor removed the limb.

• Assisted a homeless person who was traveling through Middlebury, looking for a shelter in which to stay on June 6.

• Returned a lost wallet to its owner on June 6.

• Investigated a report of a drunken man causing a problem with other customers at Two Brothers Tavern on Main Street on June 6.

• Issued an open container warning to a man who had been walking with an open beer bottle on Bakery Lane on June 6.

• Investigated a June 7 collision at the intersection of East Main Street and Route 7 South involving a vehicle that left the scene.

• Checked the Centre Shopping Plaza after receiving a call on June 7 from an individual who allegedly had seen the two fugitives from the Clinton Correctional Facility in New York.

• Spoke with a local resident who had failed to contain a bonfire on June 7.

• Assisted a local woman who reported finding drugs and related paraphernalia under the deck behind her Pinewood Road home on June 7.

• Warned some Shannon Street residents about the noise level at their party on June 7.

• Responded to an unlawful mischief complaint in the Court Street area on June 8.

• Investigated an untimely death at a Twin Circles home on June 8. Upon arrival, police determined that John Mahoney, 80, of Middlebury was deceased. The investigation revealed the death to have been due to natural causes, according to police.
