Prized Morgan

KIM DEMARS, EQUINE specialist at the University of Vermont Morgan Horse Farm, and Dr. Donald Balch, the farm director from 1951 to 1985, admire UVM Uphold just before the winner of the annual Foal Raffle is drawn at the Weybridge institution last week. Bernadette Reichle of Walden, N.Y., won the beautiful Morgan colt, which was born May 7. The farm has held the drawing on Oct. 31 each year since 1975. The UVM Morgan Horse Farm has six mares due to foal next spring and looks forward to announcing its 2013 Raffle Foal June.
