Robert Lawrence Mack Sr.

SHELBURNE/GREEN VALLEY, Ariz. — Robert Lawrence Mack Sr., 81, died on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at his home in Shelburne following several years of failing health, with his devoted family at his side. He was born on the family farm in Charlotte, July 18,1926, the son of Ralph and Mary (Goodrich) Mack.

He attended Charlotte schools and Burlington High School. On Aug. 1, 1953, he married Mary Pollard in St. Catherine of Siena Church in Shelburne.

He owned and operated a dairy farm in Charlotte with his family for numerous years. He was a member of the Farm Bureau. Following retirement he and his wife moved to Shelburne and Green Valley, Ariz., where they spent their winters with new friends and neighbors.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Shelburne; and their eight children; Robert Mack Jr., Robin and David Mack, and Hilary, all of Charlotte; Susan Jipner and husband, Jay, of Bristol; Mary Gentes and husband, Vilas, of Essex Junction; Steven and Laura Mack of Charlotte; James Mack and Elizabeth Mack, both of Shelburne; and Kathleen Riggs and husband, Timothy, of Hinesburg.

Thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Helena Spear of Charlotte; and nieces and nephews also survive him.

He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Mack, a sister, Elizabeth Leahy; and two grandchildren, Melissa and Trevor Mack.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, July 2, in St. Catherine of Siena Church in Shelburne with interment in the family lot in Shelburne Village Cemetery.
