Lynne H. Porter
MIDDLEBURY — Lynne H. Porter, 52, died April 2, 2008, after over a year of fighting malignant melanoma.
She was the former executive director of Care Net Pregnancy Center in Middlebury and mother of seven.
According to family, she will be remembered by her warm smile, giving nature and her passion and talent for cooking. She invited Middlebury College students who didn’t have a place to celebrate the holidays over for meals. During the Christmas period, she would bake her infamous rum cakes with her secret recipe.
She was a member of the Bridport Congregational Church. Her children report that she loved to take them to attend François Clemmons’ concerts. She also participated in the Middlebury College Community Choir with her daughter, Esther.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Schantz of Tucson, Ariz.; her father, Henry Porter of Bend, Ore.; her sister, Lisa Barner of Stuart, Fla.; her brothers, Jay and George Porter of Jackson, Mich.; and her children, Jason Porter of Stuart, Fla.; David Porter, Esther Wolf, Daniel Wolf, Alex Wolf, Arianna Porter, and Aaron Porter.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, April 5, 2008, at the Shoreham Congregational Church. The Rev. Tim Franklin, pastor of the Bridport Congregational Church, officiated. Private burial will be in the East Shoreham Cemetery at a later date.

Kathy J. Houle
SALISBURY — Kathy J. Houle, 44, died April 2, 2008, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington following open heart surgery. She was born in Middlebury on Jan. 2, 1964, the daughter of Rejean E. and Arlene A. (Whitney) Morin.
She was a caregiver with Happy Hearts Home Care and had recently been employed by Middlebury College. According to family, she enjoyed gardening, sewing and her pets.
She is survived by her parents; her husband, John R. Houle of Salisbury; one son, Joshua M. Giard and his companion, Carol Bushey, of Bridport; two step-sons, Logan J. Houle and his companion, Erin Quesnel, of Burlington, and Devin R. Houle of Castleton; one sister, Joyce A. Dupoise and her husband, Craig, of Salisbury; four brothers, Oral P. Morin and his companion, Marion, of Middlebury, David P. Morin and his wife, Laurie, of Salisbury, Jan P. Morin and his wife, Sherry, of Crown Point, N.Y., and Robert P. Morin and his wife, Heather ,of Salisbury; one grandson; her aunt, Robin Jackson of Middlebury; aunts and uncles; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her son Abraham J. Seeley in 2007; and her brother Ricki P. Morin in 2006.
Graveside services were conducted Saturday, April 5, in West Salisbury Cemetery, with the Rev. Justin Baker, pastor of St. Mary’s Church, officiating.
